About the Lincoln Parent Staff Group

The Lincoln Parent Staff Group (LPSG) works to support the educational goals and activities of Lincoln Elementary and supports enrichment and community building opportunities for students and their families. We want our students, staff, and families to thrive! There are no fees or membership dues to participate in LPSG activities. We are a Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), not a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) affiliate. If your student attends Lincoln Elementary, you are automatically part of our organization and we'd love to get to know you and your family. General Meetings occur bi-monthly on the 2nd Tuesday, at 5:30pm at Lincoln Elementary.

Mission

Our overall purpose is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all of our children.

  • Collaboration

We work in partnership with a wide array of individuals and organizations. We partner with the Lincoln Neighborhood Association at their annual Easter Egg Hunt and assemble committees of individuals in the community.

  • Commitment

We are dedicated to promoting children’s health, well-being, and educational success through strong parent, family, and community involvement.

  • accountability

We acknowledge our obligations, deliver on our promises, and follow our bylaws and standing rules.

  • Respect

We value our colleagues and ourselves. We expect the same high quality of effort and thought from ourselves as we do from others.

  • Inclusivity

We welcome everyone and value and seek input from as wide a spectrum of viewpoints and experiences as possible.

  • Integrity

We aim to act consistently with our mission. But we are human. When we make a mistake, we acknowledge it and seek to make amends.

What We are Not

While we support Lincoln Elementary staff, students, and families, we are not an educational policy making organization. We also can not advocate for parents or provide services in the areas of childcare or transportation, etc. If you have specific needs or questions please contact the Lincoln Elementary school office (360.213.2300).

Board Members

Each position on the board has the potential to hold three individuals. It is our belief that many hands make light work. By having two individuals as co-members in each role, it reduces stress on any one board member in each position and also provides a back up member in the event the other is sick or unexpectedly pulled away from their duties. It is also our belief that we should constantly be training our replacements. The third available member position for each board member role is devoted to a trainee member. Those in a trainee member position have no official responsibilities except for those associated with learning the ropes of the position they are in training for. In additional to the individual board member responsibilities, board members are required to attending board meetings approximately once or twice a month. Any additional involvement/time commitments outside of those listed here are not required and are typically one-time, project/event/task-based and are voluntarily accepted by individuals on the board at their own discretion.

Members At-Large

Board Member Referral/Nomination

People who are interested in becoming a board member and parents, teachers, and Lincoln staff are all able to nominate candidates using this form. A board member or person from the nomination committee will contact the nominee to follow up.

A Board Member must have completed a background check, be a member in good standing (as defined by the current LPSG Bylaws), and have been nominated/referred by two other individuals: 1) a current Lincoln Teacher/staff member and 2) a current parent/guardian with a student enrolled at Lincoln Elementary.

Nominations will be reviewed by the board or a nominations committee, and then presented at the next upcoming General Meeting for approval/vote by the general LPSG membership.

Note: The LPSG places a high value on preserving organizational knowledge. By passing on the knowledge we have learned through our personal experiences in office, we help to equip future board members to lead and allows for each new year to be better than the last. Because of this value, we have created an easy and quick way for past officers to submit this information through the website at the end of their term.
