GENERAL MEETING - SEPTEMBER 8TH, 2022

-Lincoln Parent Staff Group (LPSG) General Meeting

-3:45p.m. September 8th, Lincoln Playground

Welcome/Introductions:

Principal’s Report: Steve Lindblom

  • Excited about the school year. Staff is “crushing” it and so are the students.

  • Very critical Lincoln keeps Title 1 status. If the index of poverty is greater than 50% Lincoln receives funding from the government, in order to keep Title 1 status qualifing parents need to fill out the VPS Education Benefits Form. Funds from qualifying as a Title 1 school go to providing 5 paraeducators for Lincoln.

  • Goal to have lunch with every student this school year, he has already had lunch with 12 students at the VIP lunch table.

  • It is very important this school year to rebuild a culture post pandemic, with bringing functions and events back to school.

  • Being a principal is like running a business, it is important to show accountability and direct all funding to the students.

Officers Reports:

Treasurer - Nicole Hryciw

  • In typical years LPSG begins the school year with $35,000-$40,000 in the bank account, the current balance is $23,524.17.

  • We need to be mindful about our spending.

  • Different and creative ways to fundraise and bring money back to the school are Amazon Smile, Fred Meyer rewards, and Box Tops.

Vice President  - Jennalee Garcia-Montero

  • Need to get committees established for upcoming events.

  • Every event needs:

    • Parent lead

    • LPSG lead

    • Teacher lead

    • The LPSG leaders will help source the volunteers for the events

  • Upcoming Events that need committee leads & planning ASAP

    • Kid Craft Fair - 11/12/22

  • We have lots of resources and notes from past events to help guide planning.

  • If we can’t find parent leads and volunteers for some of the events they might not happen.

  • If you sign up to help with an event it does not mean you are committed, we will check in and see what your availability is.

  • Looking for volunteers to help with social media, website updating and “In the moment” work.
