General Meeting - November 14th, 2024

General Meeting ** 11-14-24

Lincoln Library ** 5:30 pm

  • Board Introductions

  •  LPSG stands for Lincoln Parent Staff Group. Everyone is welcomed, encouraged, and wanted to be here.

  •  Co-Positions are available for all positions

  •  Treasurers Report -

Checking account - $17282.37 Savings account - $10,033.78

Makers Bazaar budget is $100, Holiday Market budget is $2000

  •  Teacher Reimbursement Program -

Reimbursements are paid out per teacher, not per student. That changed with the last board. Fundraiser nights go to Teacher Reimbursement Fund. Might need to look into doing something different. Parent brought up that Chuck E Cheese fundraiser was hard to go to because of the book fair being the same day.

  •  Book Fair -

Book fair ran the week of conferences. Could not use the library, because of no full-time librarian to keep an eye on things. Also, because room 101 has exterior door to help keep traffic out of the school. All funds go back to the library. Ms. Fielding is new librarian. She is looking forward to diversifying our library book shelf.

  •  4-5 Grade Sports -

VSD has cancelled 4th and 5th grade basketball and volleyball. Huge loss for our students. Parent, Amanda Wong, has volunteered to help us bring back basketball, as it is a little too late to do volleyball. Franklin was able to get funding for both sports. We would need about $1,200 to pay for basketball coaches. There was some talk about including 3rd graders this year, but we think that may not be the best option, as the school district is hoping to be able to fund it next year, so we want to keep it equitable, and not allow only one year of 3rd graders, when all prior, and possibly all future 3rd graders would not get that same option. Fee’s - maybe doing an optional donation, instead of mandatory. Pizza party at the end of the season, with awards put on by Amanda. Basketball season is the end of January through March. Coaches would be Jennalee Garcia Montero (Kindergarten teacher, LPSG President, and the basketball coach for the last 8 years), and Amanda Wong. Amanda has put in a request with McMenamins for a fundraiser night to pay for the coaches, but we have not heard back yet.

-Motion brought forward to approve or deny the LPSG paying for basketball coaches in case we do not get approved for our restaurant night

  • Scholarships -

LPSG and Lincoln partners with 2 local churches, Trinity Lutheran and All Saints. All Saints came up with $450 out of their funds and wants to gift it LPSG to start a scholarship line item, to help fund students who need financial help attending/participating in our events. Every time LPSG puts on an event, scholarships are always available. Those have historically come from the LPSG’s pocket. This would help fund those students from a preset line item.

- Motion brought forward to approve or deny a scholarship line item being added to LPSG budget

  • Zeffy -

Zeffy is an online platform that can be used for fundraising, tickets, etc. Currently using stripe. We have a 2.5% fee from stripe. Zeffy is free of charge for non-profits. No fee. When you check out, Zeffy does ask for a donation, but you can opt out of that. We worry about people not paying close enough attention, and donating unintentionally. We would be sure to put on all flyers, that the donation is optional.

- Motion brought forward to approve or deny the LPSG trying Zeffy out.
